Highlights of the week

December 1st. Dawn this morning was heralded by the reverberations of lions roaring, emanating from 4 different locations. The distance between 2 of these points was decreasingly rapidly and what followed was but a chapter in the book of lion warfare.

November 22nd. 3 lion sightings: The 6 lionesses from the Marthly pride and both Clarendon males were found early this morning west of Campbell Koppies. They had their eyes set on a weak looking hippo in a pan nearby.

November 22nd. 3 lion sightings: The 6 lionesses from the Marthly pride and both Clarendon males were found early this morning west of Campbell Koppies. They had their eyes set on a weak looking hippo in a pan nearby.

Highlights of the week

November 15th. 4 lion sightings: a spectacular 2 hour long sighting was had this evening when we watched the Eyrefield pride hunting 2 buffalo- they eventually brought down a cow in the gentle rain south of Styx Crossing.

Highlights of the week

November 5th. 5 lion sightings: 2 of the lionesses from the Marthly pride and their 5 cubs were found south of Stwise Koppie. The 2 Clarendon males were viewed south of Main Camp. Both Matshapiri males were found in Matshapiri Open Area.

October 28th. 2 lion sightings: 6 lionesses from the Marthly Breakaway pride and both Clarendon males killed a buffalo south of Main Camp. The Eyrefield pride and both Matshapiri males were viewed near Confluence Crossing.

Highlights of the week

October 18th. 3 lion sightings: 2 lionesses from the Styx pride are feeding off a triple buffalo kill in the northern parts of our reserve. The 2 Matshapiri males were viewed moving east across the reserve and into the Kruger National Park.

Highlights of the week

October 11th. 2 lion sightings: A mind boggling sighting was had when we found a large unidentified male mating with the youngest Eryefield lioness just south of Rattray's camp. The rest of the Eyrefield pride were seen in the the Tamboti Thickets.

Highlights of the week

September 24th. 2 lion sightings: the 6 lionesses of the Marthly Breakaway pride spent the day in the Sand River north of Dudley Crossing. The Eryefield pride and both Mathsapiri males were also in the Sand River- they spent the day south of West Street Bridge.
