Coming from Australia, we’ve seen our fair share of wild animals – but nothing could compare with the up close, action-packed adventure we got from Mala Mala!
Thanks to our incredible guide and tracker Bens, we saw all of the Big 5 (and their babies!), an epic leopard and cub with their impala kill in a tree, and an entire pack of lions feasting on a buffalo, then sleeping on the beach the next day. Other highlights included the playful baby white rhino we spent 3 days looking for! In between these epic sightings, we enjoyed the gorgeous scenery of the different terrains offered by the huge expanse of camp, and our morning Amarula coffee/hot choc and G&T sundowner.
Back at camp, we were blown away by the impeccable service from the wonderful team – in particular, the top-notch food selection with different brunch, high tea, and dinner spreads every night, as well as highly skilled bartenders. Personal favourite was the lamb, the chocolate cake, and the peppermint tart served at the Boma. If you’re lucky enough to stay a night when it is on, make sure you go – it is an incredible display of talent and culture though song and dance. You can find some short clips on TikTok by fabulous choreographer @njhakeninjhakiamza!
In between drives we also enjoyed their massages, great selection of board games, lounging by the pool and watching elephants, trying new drinks at the cocktail bar, or getting a quick workout at the air conditioned gym. There really is something for everyone at Mala Mala – our first ever safari will be a very hard act to follow!
Much love,
