Highlights of the week

November 5th. 

5 lion sightings: 2 of the lionesses from the Marthly pride and their 5 cubs were found south of Stwise Koppie. The 2 Clarendon males were viewed south of Main Camp. Both Matshapiri males were found in Matshapiri Open Area. The Eyrefield pride were about 1km east of their dominant males. An unidentified pride was seen in the south. 7 leopards: the Piccadilly female, an unidentified male, the Kikilezi female and her 2 cubs were all viewed together in a tense sighting. The Island female was near Piccadilly pans. An unidentified leopard was seen in the south.

November 3rd. 2 lion sightings: the Eyrefield pride brought down 2 buffalo in the central parts of our property. 3 of the lionesses from the Marthly Breakaway pride and both Clarendon males spent the day just west of Campbell Koppies. 5 leopards: the Kikilezi female and both her cubs were viewed along Elephant Rock Lookout. The Island female was seen just south of Sable Camp and she had an impala kill. The Treehouse male is still feeding off of his nyala kill south of Campbell Koppies. Many elephant and buffalo sightings were also recorded today.

 

November 2nd. 4 lion sightings: the 6 lionesses from the Marthly Breakaway pride moved back into the Sand River just south of Main Camp and are now in the company of both Clarendon males. The 2 Marthly lionesses and their 5 cubs were seen at Paraffin Drift. The 2 Charleston males were seen with 2 lionesses down in the south. The Eyrefield pride were found in the Hogvaal Donga. 4 leopards: the Treehouse male has a nyala kill south of Campbell Koppies. The Kikilezi female and her cubs were viewed close to Main Camp again.

 

Many buffalo and elephant sightings were recorded on both days.

 

November 1st. 3 lion sightings: 6 of the lionesses from the Marthly Breakaway pride spent a lot of time investigating Campbell Koppies – it appears they’re looking for a potential den site. The Eyrefield pride and both Matshapiri males were seen along Tshabalala Road. Both Clarendon males, 2 Marthly lionesses and their 5 cubs were viewed at Elephant Rock Lookout. 5 leopards: The Senegal Bush male was seen at Tslebe Rocks- his brother (Quarantine) was viewed along the northern reaches of the Matshapiri River. The Kikilezi female and both her cubs were close to Main Camp.

 

October 30th. 3 lion sightings: 2 of the lionesses from the Marthly pride and their 5 cubs were viewed at Elephant Rock with one of the Clarendon males. 6 lionesses from the Marthly Breakaway pride were just south of Main Camp. The Eyrefield pride and 1 of the Matshapiri males spent the day near West Street Bridge. 3 leopards: the Emsagweni female is still feeding off of her steenbok kill from yesterday near Ostrich Koppies. The Island female was just south of Main Camp. The Senegal Bush male was viewed at Tslebe Rocks. 2 cheetah sightings: the 2 brothers were viewed in the northeast and another cheetah was seen in Flockfield. Many elephant and buffalo sightings were also recorded.
